Reported Cases of Legionnaires’ Disease Leveling Off

The outbreak of Legionnaires’ Disease at the Illinois Veterans’ Home in Quincy appears to be slowing down significantly.

As local, state and national health officials continue to isolate the source of the legionella bacteria at the home, they report that the number of confirmed cases of the disease now stands at 45, with the number of deaths holding steady at seven.

There have also been four cases of the disease confirmed outside the vets home, and a resident of Sunset Home died of Legionnaires Disease Tuesday.
