The Illinois Capital Development Board Tuesday announced that Veterans United Constructors were the successful bidders for the $230-million dollar project.

The design-build project involves the construction of a new nursing home for up to 340 residents.

The project was prompted by an outbreak of Legionnaire’s Disease at the home in 2015, resulting in the deaths of at least 13 vets’ home residents.
