Quincy Teen Dies in Crash into Golf Course Pond

A Quincy teen has been identified as the victim of a fatal car crash Sunday night in Sherman, Illinois.

The Illinois State Police report that 16 year old Kaylee Mehochko was the driver of a car that wound up at the bottom of a pond at The Rail Golf Course Sunday night.

Mehochko was taken to Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, where she was pronounced dead just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday.

Mehochko’s passenger was able to swim to safety, suffering non-life threatening injuries.

An autopsy was performed Tuesday. The preliminary cause of death is listed as drowning.

The investigation into the fatal crash continues.
