Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on South 24th Street early Wednesday morning.

Deputies arrived to find 34 year old Cory Mefford, in possession of methamphetamine and a battery powered reciprocating saw.

Deputies determined Mefford was there to cut the catalytic converter from a parked vehicle. An investigation revealed two more catalytic converters in Mefford’s vehicle, which had alleged been cut from other vehicles in Quincy.

Mefford is in the Adams County Jail for theft over $500, criminal trespass to real property and criminal damage over $500.
