Grand Prix kart racing is coming back to Quincy in 2018.

The Quincy Park District and Quincy Grand Prix, Inc. are partnering to bring the longtime Quincy tradition back to South Park. The race events are scheduled for June 8-10, 2018.

“This is one of the greatest events for Quincy ever," Terry Traeder of Quincy Grand Prix Inc. said. "It's all free to the public. It's exciting."

Traeder is hoping for 200 entries for the 2018 contest.

The event is dedicated to the legacy of Quincy Grand Prix founder (and Terry's father), Gus Traeder who passed away in June 2016 at the age of 90.

Once an annual tradition for the city of Quincy, the Quincy Grand Prix race ran from 1970 to 2001.
