Quincy City Council members approve an intergovernmental agreement supporting a downtown site for a new Adams County Jail.

Aldermen voted 10-4 in favor of spending just over $5 million in city money to help build the new jail in its current downtown location and lease 12,000 square feet to the Quincy Police Department for 20 years. The county would maintain the facility. The plan calls for removing a portion of 6th street, reconstructing a nearby parking lot and the county acquiring some nearby properties.
