Quincy Homeless Man Charged with Assault, Resisting Arrest & More

A Quincy homeless man is in the Adams County Jail, facing a Tuesday court date and a multitude of charges.

Back on November 22, Quincy Police attempted a traffic stop on 41 year old Nathaniel McPike near 13th and Oak on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on meth delivery charges.

When McPike got out of his vehicle, he pulled a knife and threatened to kill the officer.

McPike was able to get back in his vehicle and leave the scene, causing minor damage to a QPD squad car in the process.

McPike was found and taken into custody the next day without incident and taken to Blessing Hospital for a possible psychiatric evaluation.

McPike was taken to the Adams County Jail Monday on his original arrest warrant, failure to appear for a probation review.

Last year, McPike had been arrested for armed violence, meth delivery, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number.

Last May, McPike pleaded guilty to meth delivery and the other charges were dismissed.

The new charges against McPike in connection with last week's incident include armed violence, aggravated assault, threatening a public official, criminal damage to state supported property, leaving the scene of an accident and aggravated fleeing to elude police.
