One Dead Following Crash on I-72 in Pike County

A one car crash early Monday morning on I-72 claims the life of a Chicago area woman.

Illinois State Police say a car driven by 55 year old Shane Blair of Lansing Illinois went out of control at milepost 41.5 at 1:51 a-m. The car went off the road and hit a guard rail end. A passenger—39 year old Misty Norris of Harvey Illinois was pronounced dead at the scene by the Pike County Coroner. Blair was transported via air evac helicopter to Memorial Hospital in Springfield with critical injuries. Officers say Blair was cited for driving under  the influence of drugs. The investigation continues and more charges are pending.
