HPD responded to a report of a burglary in progress in the 800 block of North 6th about 11:17 p.m. Thursday.

Officers arrived to find a male subject screaming in the basement of the home.

As officers approached the basement, 37 year old Connor Duffy of O’Fallon charged toward them, waving his arms and holding what appeared to be a knife.

Duffy dropped the knife but continued to fight with the officers while he was being taken into custody.

Duffy was believed to be under the influence of unknown substances and was taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital for treatment.

No HPD officers were seriously injured in the incident.
