Norovirus Outbreak Over at Illinois Veterans’ Home

State health officials report the recent outbreak of norovirus at the Illinois Veterans’ Home in Quincy is over.

Officials with the Illinois Department of Public Health report that about 20 individuals experienced symptoms for a few days in March.

An inspection by state health officials found no indication that kitchen operations were to blame for the outbreak.

There were about 215 separate norovirus outbreaks in Illinois last year, with the majority of those outbreaks taking place in long term care or assisted living facilities.
