The latest flood crest predictions by the National Weather Service would bring the Mississippi River levels in 2019 into record territory.

The midday Wednesday crest forecasts, expected to come Friday:

Canton - 24.1, which would rank fourth behind 24.5 in 1973, 27.73 in 2008 and 27.88 in 1993.

Quincy - 28.2, also moving into fourth place behind levels of 28.9 in '73, 30.8 in '08 and 32.13 in '93.

Hannibal - 28.8, third behind 29.54 in '08 and 31.8 in '93

Louisiana - 26.2, fourth behind 26.96 in '08, 27.05 in '73 and 28.4 in '93.

Clarksville - 36.4, fourth behind levels of 36.7 in '08, 36.76 in '73 and 37.73 in '93.

The good news is that the latest predictions also call for a steady fall in river levels starting next week, with levels falling below flood stage just before Memorial Day weekend.
