The east wall of Hannibal’s City Hall is about to get a new look.
Plans are in the works for a 40 by 70 foot mural to commemorate the city’s bicentennial. The work by artist Ray Harvey includes likenesses of Mark Twain and Molly Brown along with a steamboat… an eagle and a boy not unlike Tom Sawyer. Mayor James Hark says no tax money will be used on the project. Harvey says the project is funded on line through kickstarter.com. Search there for 'Big Wall on City Hall'.. The goal is to cover the 15 thousand dollar cost by September 8th.  Those pledging are not charged by kickstarter until pledges reach the 15 thousand dollar total. Harvey says that once he’s able to start, painting work should take about six days.  Harvey recently completed a smaller mural in Ilasco. His work is also visible elsewhere in Missouri at Cuba and Sunset Hills.
