Unemployment rates in October are reported lower in many northeast Missouri counties.

State figures say the jobless rate is  below four percent in Marion, Pike, Ralls and Scotland counties and the city of Hannibal between September and October. In Knox County, the rate is reported at two-point-six percent.

The state report says a growth in the number of jobs is responsible. No county in Northeast Missouri saw an increase in the unemployment rate for October.

The numbers follow a two-month downward trend in the jobless rate after several months of slight increases.
