I don't use the word "shocking" lightly as I feel it's overused. This is one case where that was my genuine response when I saw a brand new ranking of the most popular fast food chains in America. The new king of the hill has 104 Missouri locations.

This brand new survey based on popularity of fast food places was just shared yesterday by Eat This Not That. This is no small survey either, but compiled by YouGov which has 27 million registered users. They apparently queried their users about fast food brands and whether they are viewed favorably or not.

What is the new #1 most popular fast food brand according to 27 million users?

The new king of fast food is Dairy Queen which has 104 Missouri locations according to their official website. As the Eat This Not That article mentions, Dairy Queen got its start in 1940 in Joliet, Illinois. They beat out Baskin-Robbins which came in at #2 followed by Wendy's at #3 and KFC at #4. Quite an accomplishment for a brand that has become famous for its Blizzards.

I have been a fan of Dairy Queen for as long as I've been alive and think it's excellent that they appear to be at the top of the popularity ladder now. I was just surprised since you hear so much out of so many other burger places these days. It's quite an accomplishment to be able to beat out so many competitors.
