I am a firm believer that not everything in the world has to be good for you. That's likely never been more true than peanut butter that I grew up with in Missouri that remain wildly popular even though experts say they are very unhealthy.

I want to be clear that I am not going to take the advice of these "experts" even though I'm very aware that they're probably right. This is a rundown (quite literally) of the 13 worst peanut butter brands by 24/7 Wall St and I've either eaten or am eating all of them in Missouri. I will admit that I haven't tried #1 (yet).

Here's one aspect of this peanut butter throwdown that I didn't realize - they say that peanut butters with 'reduced fat' have an ingredient called "Maltodextrin...a sugar substitute that has a higher glycemic index than sugar". Ouch.

Which peanut butters on the 'awful 13 list' are wildly popular in Missouri?

Definitely #7 which is Peter Pan Original Creamy. I also eat #6 Jif Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter all the time. I'm also not alone in Missouri saying I regularly pick up Great Value Peanut Butter at Walmart because it's cheap. Reese's Peanut Butter at #2 is also a fan favorite for many in Missouri.

What is ranked as the #1 worst peanut butter for you that's popular in Missouri?

At the top of the peanut butter no-no chart, Smucker’s Goober Grape sits alone.

I have never had that one as I'm suspicious about how peanut butter and grape jelly can coexist in a jar before being put on bread. Call me crazy, but that's unusual to me. However, will that stop it from selling by the zillions in Missouri? NOPE.

Back to my original point...not everything is meant to be good for you.
