A registered sex offender in southwest Missouri has been charged in federal court with paying to watch online sex shows of children in the Philippines.

Sixty-five-year-old Paul L. Sipeer of Duenweg is charged with receiving child pornography over the Internet.

Law enforcement officers found child pornography images on Sipeer's computer during a search of his residence Tuesday. Sipeer told officers he sent a total of approximately $1,200 to the Philippines to pay for sex shows.

Court documents say investigators had learned Sipeer was making online monetary transfers to individuals in the Philippines during the summer of 2015.

Sipeer was convicted of first-degree sexual abuse involving the physical harm of a 7-year-old child in 1992.

Sipeer remains in federal custody pending a detention hearing Feb. 2.
