Authorities say a mid-Missouri man is charged in a 2011 shooting death in Howard County.

Howard County Sheriff Mike Neal says in a news release that 34-year-old Zack Jefferson, of Excello, was arrested Wednesday and charged in the death of 39-year-old Jon Spurling, whose body was found north of Harrisburg in August 2011.

The Columbia Daily Tribune reports authorities did not say where Jefferson was arrested or how he was linked to the shooting.

He is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

At the time, authorities said it appeared Spurling walked into a crime at his home in Sturgeon.
