At their regular meeting, commissioners learned that 2020 has been a record setting year for sales tax revenue for Marion County.

County Clerk Valerie Dornberger announced sales tax receipts for the year have topped $2.36 million dollars, beating last year’s previous record high by about $170 thousand dollars.

Dornberger attributed the increase to more people shopping local and more people coming from Illinois to shop and eat out, due to COVID-19.
