Marion County Commissioners Tuesday approved the county’s budget of fiscal 2016.

The $12.65 million dollar spending plan calls for total spending about eight percent higher than last year.

The county expects to have a $2.7 million dollar surplus from 2015 to carry over to the new fiscal year.

Part of the spending increase comes from hourly county employees getting a dollar-an-hour salary increase, with a comparable pay hike for salaried employees.
