UPDATE: Man Killed in Marion Co Grain Bin Entrapment Identified

UPDATE: The man who died in the grain bin mishap Tuesday was identified by Marion County Coroner Rick Jones as 63 year old Theodore Smith, Jr. of Philadelphia.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A grain bin entrapment resulted in the death of a man in Marion County Tuesday evening.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office reports deputies, EMS and personnel from five different fire departments were called to a farm on Route B east of Palmyra about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Reports indicate grain from the bin was being loaded into a truck when the man went into the bin to check on a malfunctioning auger. Apparently, when the man stepped into the bin, the grain collapsed around him.

The man’s name has not been released pending notification of family.
