A Troy, Missouri boy's mother, grandmother and aunt face charges after authorities say they staged his kidnapping to teach him about stranger danger.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office say the three wanted to scare the 6-year-old because he was too nice to people. They enlisted help from the aunt's co-worker, who lured the child into his pickup. Deputies say he tied the boy and blindfolded him before driving him to his Troy home.

The mother is charged with felony kidnapping and abuse or neglect of a child. The others are charged with felony kidnapping, felonious restraint, and abuse or neglect of a child.

They're being held in jail on a $250,000 bond. It wasn't immediately known if they had attorneys.

The boy, who told school officials, is in protective custody.
