Keokuk Woman Found Guilty of Adams County Theft

A Keokuk woman was found guilty of theft Wednesday in Adams County Circuit Court.

56 year old Laura Hawkins was convicted in a bench trial before Judge Charles Burch.

Hawkins had originally been charged with financial exploitation of the elderly, but those charges were dismissed.

Hawkins is alleged to have stolen several thousand dollars from a 77 year old family member who was a resident of Sycamore Healthcare in Quincy.

Sentencing is set for September 6th.
