Speaking of April observances (see previous blog), I see this is Keep America Beautiful month. Aside from the usual things we can do -- don't litter, recycle when you can, things like that, there's the Adopt A Highway program.

We recently had officials from the Missouri Department of Transportation on a Newsmaker talking about Adopt A Highway. If you'd like to do more about the trash you see when you travel the roadways, this might be just the thing. Both MODOT and IDOT have Adopt A Highway programs. Just about any group -- family, church group, co-workers, etc. -- can get together and inquire about adopting a stretch of roadway in Illinois or Missouri and put forth a little effort to keep a little piece of America beautiful.

You can find out more in either MODOT or IDOT's websites.
