(Lewis County, Mo)—A Jacksonville, Illinois man becomes the fourth drowning victim in Missouri since Friday.

The Missouri State Patrol says Adam Mitchell drowned while attempting to swim across a private pond in LaBelle at 8:45 p.m. Sunday.

Mitchell was taken to the Lewis County Coroner’s Office.  Missouri troopers at the scene were assisted by the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department, LaBelle, Lewis County, and
Ewing Fire Departments, and the Department of Conservation.

Three other people drowned in Missouri over the weekend:  Friday night, a Missouri man drowned while swimming at Bull Shoals Lake.  Troopers say a Kansas man fell from a dock and failed to resurface Saturday morning at Lake of the Ozarks. The third accident happened when an Illinois man floating the Current River became tangled in a branch and drowned Saturday afternoon.
