This is a great example of how data can be filled with irony. There's a new ranking of the safest cities in Missouri for 2025 and the number one place on the list is only 12 miles away from big danger.

This is the annual ranking just shared by Safewise. They used the very latest crime numbers to name the 10 safest locations in Missouri. Their choice for #1 is new this year compared to others.

  1. Glendale
  2. Cottleville
  3. Greenwood
  4. Savannah
  5. Odessa
  6. Nixa
  7. Crystal City
  8. Higginsville
  9. Eureka
  10. Lake St. Louis

What danger is Glendale, Missouri so close to?

Glendale, Missouri, the safest city in the state is just over 12 miles from St. Louis, Missouri...one of the most dangerous metro areas in America.

This makes my point again that when national sites refer to the St. Louis area as dangerous, they really should specifically refer to the St. Louis METRO and not the area. This isn't the first time the safest place in Missouri has been so near the most dangerous. Cottleville was last year's safest city (#2 this year) and it's a part of the St. Louis area also.

Don't believe the naysayers. The St. Louis area is an epic place to live. It's just certain crime pockets in the city that unfairly gives the area a bad name.
