7 Common Missouri Plants You Must Get Rid of If You Have Dogs
I have been fortunate to have had many dogs in my lifetime in Missouri. I also have no green thumb skills whatsoever and it's probably better that way as I've learned there are many common plants people keep in their homes in the Show Me State that are harmful to animals.
I'm a big fan of Labrador Retrievers. My family had two when we lived in Missouri a few years ago and I can testify they are playful and curious animals. They were always exploring and getting into trouble.
Did you know there are flowers/plants that can be lethal to dogs?
Many of the plants mentioned by sites like Reader's Digest are very common in Missouri, but they can be killers for curious dogs.

- Azaleas - every part of these pretty flowers are bad news for canines
- Garlic - if a dog eats enough of a garlic plant, it can cause a reaction called hemolysis which can take their life
- Snake plant - another plant that is almost certain doom for a dog that eats any part of it
- Ferns - one of the most common plants in Missouri homes can cause serious and even deadly digestive system reactions in dogs
- Hibiscus - Pretty and safe if they're out of reach of your dog, but a big problem if they happen to get into one
