Being alone is a serious matter. I know because I've been there. There's one city in Illinois that has just been recognized as a complete loner, the 2nd loneliest city in America.
This new ranking shared by 24/7 Wall St features some really astonishing numbers about how many people live in a one-person household including one city in Illinois that' almost at the very top of the list.
The truth is 3 Illinois cities made the loneliest top 10 which is remarkable in itself. Champaign-Urbana comes in at #8 while Decatur is ranked at #7. But, they are not the loneliest even in Illinois. Nope, that honor goes to the 2nd loneliest city in America which is...

Check out these numbers. Danville, Illinois has 12,292 households of just one person. That accounts for a sad 39.7% of Danville's population.
Only the District of Columbia has more lonely people than Danville which is crazy considering how many lonely politicians live there. Sad face literally.
The Centers for Disease Control says there are inherent dangers when you live alone including an increased risk of heart attack and stroke. Diabetes, dementia and other mental health challenges are also part of the expected lonely person's higher danger list. The fact that stress and anxiety can skyrocket when you're alone is not news to those who have no one else around.
There are indeed many who prefer to live alone and even more that have no choice because of their situation in life. If that's your ordeal, just know there are people that care for you. Hopefully those will keep a friends group close. It's not easy living in the land of me, myself and I.
