An internal investigation has found no wrongdoing by a northeast Missouri police officer who shot and wounded the passenger in a suspect's car last month.

The Hannibal Courier-Post reports that Hannibal Police Chief Lyndell Davis on Monday released results of the internal investigation. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is conducting an independent investigation.

Police on Jan. 24 spotted 24-year-old DaMark Rudd in the downtown area. He was wanted for parole violation and drug charges.

Authorities say Rudd jumped in a car and sped away, nearly hitting an officer and striking the police car and another car. Another officer fired a shot and the car crashed.

Rudd was taken into custody while a 23-year-old passenger in his car was shot but survived.

The officer's name has not been released.
