Illinois Man Charged With Kidnapping Boy
A southwestern Illinois man was charged with three felonies after police said he kidnapped a boy and restrained him in a basement.
The Monroe County State's Attorney's Office charged Robert Fricke, 45, with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery and unlawful restraint. The Columbia man abducted and held captive a child under the age of 13, authorities said.
Columbia Police Chief Joseph Edwards said Monday that officers found the boy when responding to a kidnapping report Saturday. Police said the boy had been bitten on the ear but haven't specified how long he was missing.
The boy suffered non-life-threatening injuries that required medical attention, Edwards said.
Fricke is in the Monroe County Jail on $250,000 bond. It wasn't immediately clear if he has an attorney.
