A Quincy woman told authorities she blacked out just before her car veered off Highway 57 and crashed at 2:18 p.m. Saturday.

Adams County Deputies say 23-year-old Sonya Dean was traveling northbound near Quincy when her car crossed over the southbound lane and continued west through the parking lot of SEM Minerals. The car then struck a ditch and ran over railroad tracks before crashing into a telephone pole.

A 5-year-old passenger in the car suffered minor facial injuries and was taken to Blessing Hospital. Dean did not report any injuries.

Dean was cited for operating an uninsured vehicle and failure to properly secure a child under 8 in an appropriate child restraint.
