Officials with the Pike County Illinois Health Department say that many Pike Countians have ignored mitigation strategies intended to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

In the last month, the number of COVID cases in Pike County has more than tripled, growing from 234 to 781, with the number of deaths increasing from four to 14.

In Missouri, the Shelby County Health Department has a similar message, asking its residents to please wear a mask in public, wash your hands and maintain social distancing.
