The Hannibal Public Schools are recognized for their energy efficiency efforts.

At Wednesday’s school board meeting, the national energy conservation company Cenergistic presented the board with an Environmental Excellence Award.

The district partnered with Cenergistic three years ago to develop an energy use plan.

Since then, the district has closely monitored its electricity, water, natural gas and fuel usage, looking for ways to improve efficiency.

Cenergistic estimates that the effort has resulted in a savings of nearly $750,000 for the district over the last three years.
