Members of the Hannibal Police Department are breaking the rules in the month of November for a good cause.

Several HPD officers and civilian employees are growing beards in November. Beards are typically against department policy.

According to Chief Lindell Davis, a request was made by local members of the Fraternal Order of Police to launch a “Badges with Beards” effort to raise awareness of men’s health.

During November, HPD personnel each donate $30 for the opportunity to grow a beard.

The money raised goes to the James E. Cary Cancer Center.
