Hannibal Police Arrest Juvenile for Attempted Car Theft

Hannibal Police respond to a report of an attempt to steal a car in the 1500 block of Lyon Street at 5:26 p.m. Friday.

Officers arrived to find that a Hannibal man had left his car to go into a business in the 1600 block of Market. When he returned to his car, he confronted a suspect allegedly trying to steal the vehicle.

There was a brief confrontation and the suspect fled on foot. Within a few minutes, HPD officers arrested a 16 year old juvenile after a brief foot pursuit.

The juvenile was arrested on charges of second degree robbery, resisting arrest, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The suspect was released to the 10th Circuit Juvenile Office.
