Hannibal weather in December began with nearing a record high and ended setting a record low.

According to the National Weather Service reporting station at the Hannibal Filter Plant, the warmest day of the month came with a near-record high of 68 degree on the 4th.

At the end of the month, of course, came the arctic cold, with four days of lows below zero in the last week of the month.

We set a record low on the 27th when the thermometer dropped to minus six, breaking the record of two below, set in 1950.

It was also an extremely dry December, with just 1.05 inches of moisture falling for the month, compared to an average of 2.59 inches of precipitation.
