The Hannibal Cavemen gave up a lot of runs, then battled back late, but came up short in losing 12-5 at Terre Haute Thursday night.

The Rex scored twice in the first on two singles, a fielder's choice and a double, then added six in the second. Terre Haute RBI's came on a single, a bases-loaded triple and a solo home run. The home team added two more runs each in the fifth and sixth innings.

Hannibal came back to score once in the eighth on an RBI single by left fielder Dustin Wegener, then scored four more in the ninth, with runs driven in by Degener, first baseman Josh Griffith, right fielder Ryan Snyder and second baseman Phillip Stiles.
