The Hannibal Cavemen took an early lead but couldn't hold it as they lose 8-4 to the Danville Dans at Clemens Field Tuesday night.

Trailing 2-0 in the second, the Cavemen took the lead on a bases-loaded triple by left fielder Justin Blechle. Blechle padded the lead to 4-2 in the fourth on a sacrifice fly.

Danville came back to tie the game in the fifth on a walk, a single, a double steal and a sacrifice fly.

The Dans broke the game open by scoring four in the seventh off starter Brendan Kleekamp and reliever Dalton Smith.

Hannibal falls to 0-6 with the loss, while Danville now stands at 4-2.

The two teams meet again at Clemens Field Wednesday night. The probable starting pitchers are Josh Griffith for the Cavemen and Bryce Reichmann for the Dans.
