Hannibal Cavemen Give Up Lead Late, Lose 4-3 at Terre Haute
The Hannibal Cavemen came from behind in the middle innings but lost the lead late, losing 4-3 Wednesday night at Terre Haute.
The Rex scored twice in the third inning on an RBI single by first baseman Eric McKibban and a run-scoring double by left fielder Kyle Kempf.
Hannibal got on the board with a run in the fourth when left fielder Wesley Degener doubled and was driven in on a sacrifice fly by right fielder Ryan Snyder.
The Cavemen took the lead in the sixth on a bases-loaded infield single by Designated Hitter Emilio Lollio and a single by third baseman Joe Redburn.
But, in the eighth, Hannibal reliever Tyler Yancey gave up a lead-off double to McKibban, a walk to Kempf and a one-out two-run double to right fielder Andrew Gutierrez.
The Cavemen are at Terre Haute again Thursday night, then the Rex come to Clemens Field for Prospect League action Friday.
