An arrest warrant was issued for 23-year old Jerome Gaston charging him with unlawful use of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.

The arrest was a result of an investigation into a shooting that occurred on Shawnee Trail on Tuesday, March 22. According to the press release sent out by the Hannibal Police Department, a witness spotted Gaston firing a gun and fled the scene in a vehicle that was later found on Starlight Ridge.

Office then found Gaston hiding at the residence, learned a toddler was inside the vehicle at the time of the incident and the child was released to family members. Officers took two Gaston into custody and recovered two firearms.

There were no injuries reported during the incident, Gaston remains in the Marion County jail on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
