Public meetings on a high-voltage power line that drew controversy in Missouri are now planned in West-Central Illinois.

Clean Line Energy Partners of Houston proposes building the 750-mile Grain Belt Express from Kansas to Indiana. Randolph, Monroe and Ralls counties in Northeast Missouri and Pike and Scott counties in West-Central Illinois are included on the route.

Public meetings are set for 7 to 10 a.m. this Thursday December 4 at the Nimrod Funk Building in Winchester and from 7 to 10 a.m. December 5 at the American Legion in Pittsfield. The company also is holding seven other meetings in Illinois.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has given the green light to the project, but it still must be approved by regulators in Missouri and Illinois.

The Missouri Public Service Commission’s own staff has recommended against approving the line.
