Missouri Governor Mike Parson’s statewide tour to meet with officials on the Covid 19 outbreak included a stop in Hannibal Tuesday.

The governor met with city officials, health care professionals and others at Hannibal Regional Hospital.

Governor Parson said the number one question he gets as he travels the state is about testing for the coronavirus. He said that the capability should be in place in the next two weeks to administer 10,000 coronavirus tests per day statewide.

The governor also addressed his decision to leave the matter of closing schools up to individual districts, noting that nobody knows the needs and challenges of the effects of long term school closings than the administrators and board members of each district.

Along with his visit to Hannibal, Parson made stops Tuesday in Kirksville and Columbia, with stops in Poplar Bluff, Hayti and Cape Girardeau Wednesday and Joplin Thursday.
