Missouri’s Governor was in Hannibal Wednesday to visit one of the 250 bridges that would be slated for repair under his Focus on Bridges infrastructure proposal.

Governor Mike Parson came to town to look at the northbound U.S. 61 bridge south of Paris Gravel Road, which would undergo about $1.4 million dollars worth of work, including the laying of a new deck.

According to the governor, he understands that the sale of $350 million worth of bonds to finance this first round of bridge repairs is just a first step, but a very important step…

MODOT officials anticipate that work on the Highway 61 bridge and over two dozen other northeast Missouri bridges on the list for repair would take place during the 2020 fiscal year.
