A former Quincy daycare provider has been charged in connection with the death of a two-year-old boy in her care last summer.

According to Adams County State’s Attorney Jon Barnard, 57 year old Patricia Tipton was charged with reckless conduct causing great bodily harm.

The charge comes as a result of the death of Pravyn Lance McBride-Meyer last July 2nd. The toddler was found the day before in an above ground swimming pool at Tipton’s home day care facility on South 39th Street.

McBride-Meyer was taken first to Blessing Hospital and then to Children’s Hospital in St. Louis where he died.

The incident resulted in Tipton being cited for neglect by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. Tipton also voluntarily surrendered her daycare license.
