A Quincy woman is sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to a theft charge.

59 year old Patricia Tipton was sentenced to 12 months’ probation for misdemeanor theft. As part of a plea agreement, two counts of financial exploitation of elderly person were dismissed. She was also ordered to pay $19,677.24 in restitution.

Tipton had been accused of misusing more than $50,000 of her mother’s money between January of 2015 and February of 2016.

Tipton had been sentenced to 18 months’ probation and 360 days of periodic jail time earlier this year on a reckless conduct charge.

Tipton was operating a home day care facility in July 2014 when two year old Prayvn Lance McBride-Meyer was found in a swimming pool while under her care. He died the next day.
