Five Hurt, Four Seriously, in Separate Weekend Traffic Crashes
A total of five people are hurt, four of them seriously, in two separate traffic crashes in northeast Missouri Sunday.
Three people, including a Canton man, are seriously injured in a two vehicle head-on crash on Highway 6 west of Brashear in Adair County at 6:25 p.m. Sunday.
The Highway Patrol reports 28 year old Greggory Strub-Lay of Canton was westbound, crossed the center line on the icy highway and collided head-on with an eastbound Jeep driven by 34 year old Joshua Darnel of Brashear.
Both Strub-Lay and Joshua Darnel were taken to Northeast Regional Medical Center for treatment. A passenger in the Darnel Jeep, ten year old Weston Darnel, was taken first to Northeast Regional Medical Center, then transferred to University Hospital in Columbia.
Both drivers are hurt in a two vehicle crash on Highway 61 north of New London at 12:13 a.m. Sunday.
The Highway Patrol reports that a southbound pickup truck, driven by 17 year old Nemphis Folweiler of Hannibal, was struck in the rear by a minivan, driven by 27 year old Margaret Smith of New London.
Both drivers were taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital for treatment.
Folweiler suffered moderate injuries. Smith’s injuries were described as serious.
