Damage Hampers Hannibal Fire Investigation

Fire investigators say structural damage means they can’t determine the cause of Saturday’s fatal fire at 607 Broadway in Hannibal.

Fire investigator Mark Kempker says they spent a total of 13 hours on fire overhaul, limiting hotspots, and victim recovery and investigation. Fire crews found the body of one person in the ruins. No word at this time on the identity. Businesses adjoining the building--- The Rialto Banquet Center and Rookies Sports Bar sustained smoke and water damage.

Kempker say the building was uninsured. If you wish to assist the owner, contact the American Red Cross.
