The much anticipated completion of the mural on the east wall of Hannibal City Hall will have to wait till next spring.

On his Facebook page, artist Ray Harvey announced Monday that he is stopping work on the mural, effective immediately.

Harvey cited this week’s cold weather and its effect on his paint and on the brick and mortar painting surface as the reason for the stoppage.

Harvey was approached by the city to paint the mural earlier this year, late this summer raised $15,000 on Kick Starter to fund the project, and was about six weeks into the painting of the mural.

Harvey says the mural will be completed next spring.
