A Shelby County businesswoman becomes the third announced candidate for a northeast Missouri state senate seat that becomes vacant next year.

60 year old Cindy O’Laughlin of rural Shelbina plans to run for the 18th District Senate seat currently held by Republican Brian Munzlinger, who cannot run for reelection because of term limits.

O’Laughlin is the co-owner of Leo O’Laughlin, Inc. a concrete and aggregate hauling business with locations in Shelbina, Macon and Marceline.

Current state representatives Craig Redmon of Canton and Lindell Shumake of Hannibal have also announced their intention to run for Munzlinger’s seat. Redmon and Shumake will also be term limited out of their House seats next year.
