Central Illinois Biker Arrested for Going 140 mph
A motorcyclist who authorities say was driving his bike at speeds that reached 140 mph told central Illinois police he was rushing because he needed to use the bathroom.
The Pekin Daily Times reports 26-year-old Adam Lester was arrested Tuesday night after a Pekin officer clocked him going more than two-and-a-half times the speed limit over a Tazewell County bridge.
A police department spokesman says the officer checked the radar gun twice to verify the reading. The speed limit in the area is 55 mph.
Authorities say Lester had a 16-year-old passenger onboard. Lester was cited for reckless driving and faces misdemeanors for trying to elude police along with other traffic violations.
It wasn't clear if Lester had an attorney and no telephone listing for him could be found.
