Canton Man Hospitalized After Being Shot by Police
A northeast Missouri man was hospitalized with severe injuries after allegedly pointing a gun at police, prompting two officers to open fire.
The Quincy Herald-Whig reports that 28-year-old Timothy Sutton of Durham had surgery Wednesday night for life-threatening injuries. Specific details of his injuries were not released.
The shooting happened earlier Wednesday near Canton City Hall. Two Canton officers were questioning Sutton as part of a criminal investigation.
Lewis County Sheriff David Parrish says Sutton was allowed to step outside to smoke. Parrish says Sutton reached into his car, grabbed a gun, and pointed it at Police Chief Ryan Crandell.
Parrish says two other officers shot Durham. Both are on leave pending an investigation.
